PROGRAM #1: COMPANY OFFICER LEADERSHIP

DESCRIPTION: This program will be a lively and fast-paced interactive discussion about the leadership challenges company officers face. We'll discuss traits of human behavior which will help you to understand why people do, and don't do, what you want them to. We'll look introspectively at our own personal leadership styles and examine how our behaviors toward others affect their performance.

PROGRAM #2: FIREGROUND COMMAND DECISION MAKING UNDER STRESS AND REAL WORLD INCIDENT COMMAND FOR FIRE DEPARTMENTS WITH LIMITED RESOURCES

DESCRIPTION: This program will focus on the challenges faced by incident command decision making as commanders try to gather cues, make sense of what they are seeing (and not seeing), and predict the future events at an incident scene. The program will review the challenges and benefits of various decision-making models and the role that situation awareness plans in helping commanders from mental models about what is going on.

The focus of the tactical discussions will be on how to safely accomplish incident priorities with limited staffing. We will explore about how to prioritize information to make good decisions. Personnel accountability, fireground safety, and incident communications will be stressed.
